The Lives and Health of Armenian Children, Women, and the Entire Population of Nagorno-Karabakh Are in Real Danger: Armenia's Ombudsman
The lives and health of Armenian children, women, and the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh are in real danger. This statement was made by Armenia’s Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan.
“Since early morning, Azerbaijan has initiated sporadic aerial and artillery aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) along the entire length of the border. Numerous citizens have reported that villages, cities, and the capital Stepanakert are being bombarded. These extremely concerning reports have also been officially confirmed by the Defense Army and the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh.
Significant violations and damages have been inflicted on the civilian population. The lives and health of Armenian children, women, and the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh are in real danger.
We call on the international community and international human rights organizations to take action and direct all their efforts to prevent this military aggression and violence against the peace and security of the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he stated.
It is noteworthy that according to Artsakh President's spokesperson Vahram Poghosyan, early this morning the enemy began active artillery bombardments along the entire contact line. Peaceful settlements, including the capital Stepanakert, are also being shelled. In turn, the spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan, noted that the Armenian side has struck down two enemy helicopters and three drones. The fighting is ongoing.
The commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Jalal Harutyunyan, has issued a battle call, stating that at this moment, the Defense Army units are successfully disrupting the enemy's plans, inflicting significant losses.
The Armenian side reports two casualties: one woman and one child.
