‘Nagorno-Karabakh is a bleeding wound’: Kadyrov calls for an end to bloodshed and peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan

The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has called on the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples to halt the bloodshed, proposing that the entire international community engage in the process of restoring peace in Artsakh.

“Today, we are once again receiving alarming news from Karabakh, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. I urge our fraternal Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples to stop the senseless bloodshed, which is moving the conflict further away from reason and humanity,” Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Kadyrov, the Caucasus is a region where “many peoples with ancient cultures live, and they are all united by kinship, historical, and cultural roots.” Therefore, for every Caucasian, “the misfortune of a neighbor is not foreign; it directly relates to them.”

“The Chechen people, who know very well the price of war and peace, call on you to stop, to change your anger into reason, to humble your pride, and to give fathers and mothers a chance to see their children alive and healthy,” he said.

Kadyrov addressed the international community, proposing that the UN, all neighboring states, and spiritual leaders become involved in the peace restoration process in the Caucasus. “Nagorno-Karabakh is a bleeding wound that certain forces do not allow to heal, and all of the Caucasus suffers from this pain. Russia is making titanic efforts to force the parties to sit at the negotiating table. However, to achieve this, military operations must be permanently halted,” Kadyrov stated.
