Those behind the political retribution against Gagik Tsarukyan will be punished, says the Prosperous Armenia Party

Yesterday, the court, under the presidency of Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, illegally detained the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Gagik Tsarukyan. No substantial evidence was presented by the court to explain how Tsarukyan allegedly obstructed the preliminary investigation four months after the charges were filed. What has transpired is clearly a political vendetta against the head of the largest parliamentary opposition force and the PAP.

It is evident that Gagik Tsarukyan is now a political prisoner. The authorities, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, have, after two and a half years since the revolution, failed in all areas and are attempting to silence the opposition through dirty political retributions, ordering the most compliant judge to detain Tsarukyan.

The ruling power is targeting many PAP figures, MPs, and heads of regional structures, with apparent political persecution disguised as fabricated legal processes.

Dear compatriots, our country is facing serious challenges today. The incompetent government has brought the country to social disaster, fiercely fighting against our national identity, while secretly negotiating with the Azerbaijani political elite over the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Through political retributions, they aim to establish an atmosphere of fear and terror in the country, which will surely fail.

The PAP, together with its allied political forces, will continue to fight for the solutions to the problems of our country and citizens, which led hundreds of thousands of our compatriots to block the streets two and a half years ago. Instead of resolving these issues, the government is busy hunting internal enemies, pursuing political vendettas, and attempting to establish a regime of oppression.

Dear compatriots, the struggle of Gagik Tsarukyan and ours is just. They will not succeed in intimidating and silencing us with political retributions, and we will surely establish a new kind of government, where there will be no place for revenge, pettiness, and personal vendettas.

Those behind this shameless and cheap vendetta against Gagik Tsarukyan and all involved will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. And that is merely a matter of time. God protect us all...
