State Fee: Art Schools Owned by the Municipality Demanding Payment for 4 Months of Missed Classes

Parents of children attending art schools owned by the Yerevan Municipality are raising alarms, stating that the municipality is demanding payment for approximately 4 months of classes that were missed during the state of emergency, which in some cases amounts to around 40,000 AMD.

One parent, whose child is enrolled at the Konstantin Orbelian Music School, told Auroranews.am that the Culture Department of the municipality explains this request by stating it is a state fee that must be paid.

According to the parent, the municipality is asking for payment for 4 months and requires that missed classes be made up by December; otherwise, either the contract with the child will be unilaterally terminated, or the child will not be transferred to the next group.

Parents' concerns extend beyond the financial burden, as they are also worried about how children, who are already attending public school, will manage their additional classes at the art school. In this case, the children’s workload effectively triples.

Auroranews.am will continue to pursue the issue and will attempt to present the municipality's comment in the near future.
