Water Supply Will Not Be Hourly: Information Misleading, Says "Veolia Water"
Recently, information was circulated in the media stating that water supply in certain addresses of the regions of Armenia and the capital, Yerevan, would become hourly. A statement from the company "Veolia Water" caused misunderstanding among citizens. In a conversation with Auroranews.am today, the company confirmed that the information about the water supply becoming hourly does not correspond to reality, and "Veolia Water" simply published the latest water supply schedule.
During our conversation, the company emphasized that there has been no change in water supply for any subscriber. In other words, in the areas where water supply has previously been round-the-clock, it will remain the same, and where it has been supplied hourly, it will continue as such.
The company also issued a clarification, which we present below. "Recently, "Veolia Water" published the latest water supply schedule for the period from October 1, 2020, to April 30, 2021, for the settlements within its service area. Based on reactions from certain media and consumers, the need for clarification has arisen. This was reported by "Veolia Water" LLC.
The company states that the water supply schedule for the period from October 1, 2020, to April 30, 2021, will remain the same as in the previous period. The new water supply schedule published by "Veolia Water" does not imply a reduction in water supply hours.
The publication of the water supply schedule is a requirement of the number 1 license granted to Veolia Water LLC by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, based on the three-party 15-year lease agreement signed on November 21, 2016, between the Government of Armenia represented by the Water Committee, the French "Veolia Group" company, and "Veolia Water". The operator of Armenia's water supply systems is obliged to publish the schedule twice a year, in April and September, for the upcoming months. The schedule is printed in newspapers, posted on the company's official website veolia.am, on the company’s Facebook page, and also mentioned in subscriber bills.
In recent years, due to the activities carried out by "Veolia Water", the majority of subscribers now receive round-the-clock service, and water supply has significantly improved in numerous settlements throughout the republic. Effective measures are being taken, especially to improve the schedule for subscribers with minimal water supply, which is critically urgent especially in the regions.
"Veolia Water" fully fulfills its investment obligations from its own resources and ensures a water supply regime that corresponds to the current technical capabilities of the system. Furthermore, this refers to continuous water supply, as, especially during the October-April period, subscribers are provided with water supply for a longer duration than declared.
The company's approximately 2800 employees work around the clock to respond quickly to emergencies, construct new water pipelines and reservoirs, and technically upgrade other engineering infrastructures, ensuring stable water supply and quality water for subscribers.
