The Goal is One: To Imprison Gagik Tsarukyan as Soon as Possible, Lawyer Says
Currently, no decision has been made yet. The court has gone into a consultation room to decide on the motion for the recusal of the judge. The decision is most likely to be announced at 13:30. This was stated by Gagik Tsarukyan's lawyer, Yerevan Sargsyan, during a conversation with journalists in front of the Central and Nor-Nork Court of General Jurisdiction.
He noted that they have submitted a motion for the judge's recusal because they received information that, due to the interventions of certain officials and the mutual agreement of certain bodies, a decision has been made in advance that the cassation appeals need to be rejected as quickly as possible. The rejection should be timed in such a way that it corresponds with the duty roster of the Central branch of the Yerevan City Court.
“The evidence we have and this speed show that everything has been done for the motion to be granted quickly. The goal is one: to imprison Gagik Tsarukyan as soon as possible,” he said.
“Since the duty day was one week long, from September 14 to 20, it was decided that the case should be registered on this very day and be specifically assigned to Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan,” the lawyer noted, adding that this information has later been confirmed with certain factual data.
According to Yerevan, there are specific factual data indicating that employees of the Court of Cassation were instructed to personally go to the postal department and obtain the factual data confirming the receipt of the notification concerning the decision from the Court of Cassation by the defense.
