Drugs Discovered Inside Postal Shipment from France to Armenia

The State Revenue Committee's (SRC) anti-smuggling department continues its persistent fight against the illegal transport of drugs and psychotropic substances across the borders of the Republic of Armenia.

Recently, surveillance conducted by employees of the SRC's anti-smuggling department, the Western Customs Administration, and the National Security Service resulted in the discovery of 415 whole and 12 partially broken tablets of the drug 'buprenorphine' hidden within a postal shipment from France at the 'HayPost' post exchange center. These were concealed in a metal container labeled 'NIVEA', alongside personal use items.

Following the discovery of buprenorphine, a decision was made to conduct operational-investigative measures in collaboration with the SRC’s anti-smuggling department and the National Security Service. This includes the operational-investigative action of 'Controlled Delivery and Purchase' aimed at clarifying further facts and circumstances related to the case.

As a result of the operational-investigative measures, after receiving the imported shipment, the recipient A.M., along with her husband A.G. and their son K.G., were detained by the SRC's anti-smuggling department.

Simultaneously, within the framework of a criminal case initiated under Article 267.1, Part 4, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code, searches were conducted at various addresses in Yerevan based on court orders by the employees of the SRC's anti-smuggling department and the National Security Service. As a result of one of these searches, a liquid substance of the drug 'methadone' was found along with its syringe, and during the personal search of A.G., a greenish mass of the drug 'marijuana' was discovered.

As a result of the criminal case initiated at the SRC’s Investigative Department, RA citizen A.G. has been arrested.
