Tightening of Driver's License Exams Postponed, New Date Announced

The implementation of stricter regulations for obtaining a driver's license will now start not on September 27, 2020, as previously decided by the government at the beginning of the year, but on January 1, 2021. This decision was made today during a government session at the request of the Police of Armenia.

It was noted that the postponement of the deadline for these changes is due to the coronavirus pandemic, as the traffic police examination centers had halted operations from March 25 to May 17 and from June 3 to June 14 in the previous months.

It is important to remember that under the new regulations, stricter conditions will be set for those obtaining driver's licenses. For instance, candidates will be required to present a health check certificate. Additionally, the theoretical knowledge test will now include not 10, but 20 questions, and candidates will have 30 minutes to answer them. A minimum of 18 correct answers will be considered a pass. The practical assessment will take place not only in a specially designated area but also in real road traffic conditions.
