Putin Did Not Congratulate Alexander Lukashenko on Inauguration, Spokesman Says
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, did not congratulate the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on his inauguration. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, the practice of international communication does not require congratulations on the occasion of inauguration.
“No, such a thing is not mandatory. Essentially, the congratulations have already taken place,” Peskov said, reminding that Putin had congratulated Lukashenko on his victory in the Belarusian elections.
It should be noted that the President of Russia had congratulated his Belarusian counterpart during a recent phone call and personal meeting that took place in Sochi.
