«Вестник Кавказа» Distorts Naira Zohrabyan's Interview Remarks

Interestingly, it appears that Aliyev and his propaganda machine, still reeling from the shock of the Tavush defeat, are continuing the worst traditions of the KGB. This was written by Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the 'Prosperous Armenia' faction of the National Assembly, on her Facebook page.

“Yesterday, I gave an interview to the Russian news outlet Вестник Кавказа (the full interview can be found here) and when asked how I relate to the potential resumption of war, I responded that any war is a disaster and every death brings us further away from a peaceful settlement of negotiations. Yes, I also said that regardless of the internal political disagreements with all authorities, we always try to be united on the issue of Artsakh,” she noted, expressing that the outlet distorted her words, presenting it as if Armenia fears war because it would be devastating for Artsakh.

“I understand that the escalating internal political crisis in Azerbaijan, fluctuations in oil prices, and the lack of even a minimal plan regarding the Artsakh issue have made Aliyev and his political establishment extremely irritable, as he threatens war even when meeting with patients in rehabilitation centers and recites his favorite 'Karabakh bizimdir.' However, the Goebbels-style propaganda continually has the peculiar habit of clashing with reality and specific facts, as is the case here,” Zohrabyan added, noting that certain cowardly Armenians have begun their usual attacks against her.

“Well, how can I say this, that you are so foolish that no matter how many statuses you write daily under the imposed 'fas' directive, you will not divert public attention from your failures. If war is not a disaster and peace is such a bad thing, and we should rejoice at the deaths of our soldiers, then what about those selfies taken with bouquets at the border, calls for peace platforms, and inviting Mehriban to the tea party—are you filling up Azerbaijan's mill with that?” she wrote, and added a postscript noting that after her call, the editorial team of Вестник Кавказа corrected a technical error and apologized for the Azerbaijani manipulations.
