The Educational Process at the Economic University is Unlikely to Continue Normally: What to Expect According to 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: According to 'Zhoghovurd', the educational process at the Armenian State Economic University is unlikely to proceed normally during these days.

The issue is that yesterday, faculty members and students gathered in front of the government building, demanding the appointment of Diana Galoyan as the rector of the university. However, according to our sources, the faculty has decided that if Galoyan's appointment is confirmed, they will cease their strikes. Confirmation, however, is unlikely to happen soon.

'Zhoghovurd' had previously written that despite the University Council selecting Diana Galoyan on July 17, the decision has yet to be signed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. As is known, Galoyan was the candidate supported by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Arayik Harutyunyan.

Moreover, various reports indicate that the minister is in favor of these protests and met with the university staff days ago to state that he would not oppose any organized demonstrations.

At the same time, faculty members emphasized yesterday that their demand is not political; they simply want to understand when they will receive government approval and return to normal operations, as many tasks are left unfinished due to the lack of a rector.
