No New Motion Filed to Arrest Gagik Tsarukyan, Prosecutor's Office
The advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Gor Abrahamyan, made a post on Facebook clarifying that no new motion has been presented to the court regarding the arrest of Gagik Tsarukyan as a preventive measure.
The court session scheduled for tomorrow will address the motion concerning which the first-instance court's decision to reject it was appealed by the Prosecutor's Office to the Court of Appeals. The latter partially upheld the Prosecutor's motion, annulled the first-instance court's judicial act, and sent it back to the same court for a new hearing.
The issue at hand is that the Supreme Court of Armenia has decided not to accept the appeals submitted by the Prosecutor’s Office and the defense against the aforementioned decision of the Court of Appeals, meaning that the decision of the Court of Appeals has entered into force, based on which the first-instance court has scheduled a hearing to review the motion again.
In this sense, publications regarding the predetermined outcome of an upcoming court session are simply unacceptable, as are manipulative attempts to politicize the process, which is entirely within the legal framework, under the guise of some political statements.
