Body of American Journalist of Russian Descent Found in Istanbul
An American journalist of Russian descent, Andrei Vlchek, was found dead in his car in Istanbul on September 22. The police are treating the circumstances of his death as suspicious, according to RIA Novosti.
The 57-year-old journalist had arrived in Istanbul from the northern Turkish province of Samsun with his wife and two drivers. After reaching their hotel in the Karakoy district of Istanbul, his wife attempted to wake him, but he showed no signs of life.
Doctors who arrived at the scene confirmed that the man was deceased. An investigation has been launched regarding the journalist's death. Vlchek, born in Leningrad, had worked for a long time as a military correspondent in various conflict zones around the world, including Bosnia, East Timor, Sri Lanka, Congo, and others after obtaining U.S. citizenship.
