The Rhetoric of the President of Azerbaijan Does Not Honor Any Country's Leader, Says Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan
The comments made by the President of Azerbaijan during the inauguration of naval activities at the "Absheron" field are deeply disappointing. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anna Naghdalyan.
“These statements reveal the inability of the leader of the neighboring country to adequately perceive the reality without painful emotions and his own role in shaping that reality. Such rhetoric, which contains blatant unfounded and even false claims, does not honor any country's leader. We are aware of the damage caused by Azerbaijan's attacks in April 2016 and the military escalation in July 2020 to the peace process. In order to prevent these damages from becoming irreversible, the leadership of Azerbaijan must reconsider its policy of using force and the threat of force, abandon attempts to destabilize regional peace and security in the South Caucasus through the involvement of extraterritorial forces, and prepare for resolving the issue through peaceful means.
Armenia is confident in its capabilities to defend the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and to live in their historical homeland, and with this confidence, we again emphasize that there is no alternative to the peaceful resolution of the issue.”
It is noteworthy that yesterday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that he negatively assesses the current state of the negotiations for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and believes that they have actually come to a halt.
