One of the Victims of the Explosion at the 'Proshyan Wine Factory' Has Died

Four patients injured in the fire at the Proshyan Cognac Factory branch are receiving treatment at the National Burns Center of the Ministry of Health of Armenia. The Ministry of Health reports that one of them unfortunately passed away yesterday.

One patient has been discharged. The health conditions of the other two victims are assessed as moderate, and they have been transferred from the intensive care unit to the burns department. All necessary measures are being taken.

It is recalled that on September 1, 2020, around 12:00 PM, while performing welding work near the wine fermentation tanks at the 'Proshyan Wine Factory' LLC branch in Armavir village of the Armavir region, safety regulations were violated, leading to an explosion. As a result, two factory employees lost their lives due to negligence, while four employees were hospitalized with various degrees of bodily injuries and burns.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Armavir Regional Investigative Division of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia based on the features of Part 2 of Article 157 (violations of labor protection rules) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An examination of the scene has been conducted, and several employees have been questioned. Six employees of the aforementioned factory have been recognized as victims in the criminal case. Forensic medical and post-mortem examinations have been ordered, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
