‘Zhoghovurd’. 7 MPs are to resign their mandates, a messenger has been sent to Tsarukyan
‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: According to information from the ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily, under the leadership of National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan, the authorities have sent a messenger to Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the National Assembly’s ‘Prosperous Armenia’ faction. Specifically, he was informed that several members of the Prosperous Armenia faction must resign their parliamentary mandates in order to halt the gunfire exchanges between the ‘My Step’ faction and the authorities in general.
According to the ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily, the authorities have demanded the resignation of at least 7 MPs, including Gagik Tsarukyan, Eduard Babayan, Davit Manukyan, Vardan Ghukasyan, Gevorg Petrosyan, and Naira Zohrabyan.
However, the leader of Prosperous Armenia, Gagik Tsarukyan, stated that this would not happen, and that they too would not resign their parliamentary mandates. In turn, National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan stated that there is no other option, and that there should be people in Parliament who are effective and political figures, whereas these MPs do not meet that character.
It was also noted that although Naira Zohrabyan is a political figure, she too does not meet the current requirements of the National Assembly and must at least resign from the position of chair of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee.
Prosperous Armenia has rejected all proposals from the National Assembly president. For comments on this information, the ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily reached out to Ararat Mirzoyan's assistant Vahan Kostanyan and Tsarukyan's spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan. The latter did not respond to our calls, while Vahan Kostanyan stated that such things have not occurred and that the information does not correspond to reality.
