Who Were the 6 MPs Who Did Not Support the Minister of Education?
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "Yesterday, the vote in parliament regarding the vote of no confidence in the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Araik Harutyunyan, revealed that at least there is no consensus within the ruling team regarding Harutyunyan.
83 deputies voted against the no-confidence motion, including Arman Babajanyan, who occasionally appears independent despite being part of the ruling faction. Who were the 6 MPs who at least abstained from supporting the Minister of Education? Arsen Julfalakyan, who, understandably, does not often attend sessions, and for example, Koryun Mkrtchyan and the ethnically Yezidi Rustam Bakoyan were present but did not vote. However, within the 'My Step' faction, particularly vigorous discussions were held regarding Sasun Mikayelyan and Taguhi Tovmasyan's absence from the vote. They later appeared in the National Assembly.
Within 'My Step', it was discussed that Sasun Mikayelyan had several reasons for boycotting that vote, firstly because he is from Kotayk and was offended by Araik Harutyunyan's remarks towards a "group of Kotayk residents". Secondly, Harutyunyan had insulted his friend Gagik Tsarukyan: "Wherever Sasun is, Taguhi is there too." Surprisingly, another Kotayk native, Kristine Poghosyan, was also absent from the session."
