Who is the Minister Who Can Make Arbitrary Decisions? Tamamyan Invites the Prime Minister to the Center

The director of the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, Gevorg Tamamyan, addressed the situation around the hematological center during a Facebook live stream, expressing his belief that the Prime Minister was given incorrect information regarding the doctors' resignation letters.

“I want to thank the Prime Minister for making a conscious decision based on the interests of our state and people,” Tamamyan stated during a meeting with doctors, referring to the situation and the Prime Minister's decision on September 17. He added that he understands why the Prime Minister wrote the second part of his post.

“He mentioned that we need to check the relationship between impressions and reality. Yes, I completely agree, and without any ulterior motives, I invite the Prime Minister to visit this center and familiarize himself with the work being done here. What is being accomplished is being done quietly and without any noise or public acknowledgment; it has been done for decades. I am fully convinced that misleading information is being communicated. If he comes to our center and gets to know our staff, he will recognize yesterday's victory as primarily his victory,” Tamamyan said.

The doctor also addressed comments claiming that doctors engaged in 'sabotage' but reassured that there were no arrangements made within the staff. “What does sabotage mean if people are fighting for their rights? Does that constitute sabotage? The same doctors did not take to the streets; is that also sabotage? The greatest achievement of the revolution is in this room. This day is historic not only for medicine but also for civil society. Who is the Minister who can make arbitrary decisions; they are one paid by our taxes. Arbitrary decisions should have no place,” Tamamyan stated, expressing hope that henceforth, specialists in any field will be able to unite and voice their issues regarding any topic.

He also expressed regret that Anna Hakobyan is terminating her powers as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the 'City of Smiles.'

It should be noted that the Ministry of Health decided to terminate the contract of Samvel Danielyan, the head of the Hematological Center named after Prof. R. Yolyan. This was followed by Gevorg Tamamyan's resignation letter from his position in the Armenian Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology. After Tamamyan, a resignation letter was also submitted by the center's staff, including doctors, nurses, psychologists, pedagogues, and caregivers. However, later Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a post on Facebook informing that he had instructed to extend the employment contract of the director of the Hematological Center.
