VIDEO: Gevorg Petrosyan is among the top three in Armenian political discourse today, says Arman Abovyan

Both the Prime Minister and the authorities have no substantial counterarguments to all the issues raised by Mr. Tsarukyan, and today we see that the political discourse has turned into absurdity.

This was stated by Arman Abovyan, the secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) faction, during a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly.

Regarding Gagik Tsarukyan's statement, Abovyan reaffirmed that those who need to have read and understood it. “As for entering into that non-substantial, semi-personal realm with incomprehensible expressions, unfortunately, this shows the political level,” said Abovyan.

Concerning the criticisms directed at BHK MP Gevorg Petrosyan, Abovyan said that every MP has the right to express their opinion; for some it may be sharp, while for others it might be milder. “Mr. Petrosyan is currently among the top three in Armenian political discourse,” he stated.

Abovyan believes that unnecessary escalations should not take place in political discussions, as there exists a culture of political discourse. “When we express disagreement or criticism, at a minimum we expect adequate counterarguments or discussions with them. When this is absent, it indicates that there is no political culture, or there is nothing to counter with. In fact, it turns out that with these statements, the authorities are simply reaffirming all the critical theses of Gagik Tsarukyan,” Abovyan added.

He further noted that experts are working on a draft that will stipulate that individuals with mental health issues should not hold high positions.
