Candidates' Names for the Vacant Position of Executive Director of Public Television Announced

The acceptance of documents for the vacant position of Executive Director of the Public Television Company has concluded. The names of the candidates, which total 13, have now been made public:

  • Vardan Aleksanyan – Director at Shirak Public Television and Radio Company, 2015-2019.
  • Stepan Martirosyan – Director at AR Television, 2016-2020.
  • Vazgen Avetyan – Chief Advisor to the General Director at Pan-Armenian Media Group, 2016-2020.
  • Hovhannes Tovmasyan – Artistic Director at Yerevan Projects since 2018.
  • Arthur Sahakyan – Founder, Leader, and Television Commentator at Armenian News Network; Host and Author of the "30 Minutes" (AMGA TV, Glendale, USA) program.
  • Rudik Ter-Galstyan – Founder of Factor Production LLC, Chief Producer of Public Television, 2013-2017.
  • Hovhannes Movsisyan – Director of the Public Relations and Information Center under the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
  • Armen Sargsyan – Specialist in information and media management, Acting Executive Director of Public Television.
  • Armen Pahlavuni – Head of the Sound Department at Public Television.
  • Ruben Tumanyan – Director and Producer, Chief Producer of Public Television, 2010-2013.
  • Arman Chilingaryan – Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Armenia, Chief Director at AR Television, 2013-2020.
  • Nune Elmasyan – Chief Director of entertainment programs at H2 Television since 2000.
  • Armen Aharonyan – Television operator at Public Television, 2003-2009.

According to the established competition rules, the competition committee will review the submitted documents within 5 working days and make a decision on appointing a winner. If necessary, the committee may conduct interviews with the candidates.

It should be noted that on April 20, Margarita Grigoryan, the Executive Director of Public Television, announced her resignation from the position. This decision followed a controversial video involving the Prime Minister. On April 17, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered a message to the nation regarding the coronavirus, and on April 18, footage from the preparatory phase of the message up to the live broadcast surfaced online, attempting to portray Pashinyan in a satirical light.
