By Spreading Fake News About Artsakh and Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan Aim to 'Drown Out' News Coverage Against Them

Recently, the Azerbaijani media has intensified the spread of false information portraying Artsakh as a base for various terrorist organizations and groups. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, head of the 'Henaket' analytical center NGO and former security advisor to the President of Artsakh, on his Facebook page.

Turkey's significant involvement is also noticeable behind all this. At different times, there have been attempts to present Artsakh as a territory for the illegal trafficking of weapons and drugs. One of Azerbaijan's main goals is to justify the resumption of possible military operations as a 'fight against terrorism and drugs, etc.'

The intensification of this topic has another reason. During and after the Tavush combat operations, various foreign media published articles about Turkey's recruitment of militants from different extremist groups, with the objective of transporting them to the South Caucasus.

Notably, the Armenian Foreign Minister also referred to this issue in one of his recent interviews. According to this scenario, it is anticipated that in the event of the resumption of military operations against Armenia, various combined units recruited from different terrorist groups will also engage and support the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces.

By circulating fake news about Artsakh and Armenia, it is evident that Turkey and Azerbaijan are attempting to 'drown out' the news coverage against them and obscure everything they are actually doing. There is no doubt that Turkey will play a greater role and have more participation in the next phase of the military operations, as clearly evidenced by statements from various high-ranking officials in that country and the significant increase in support provided to Azerbaijan. However, it is difficult to say definitively how Turkey's participation will manifest in terms of scale and form during specific combat operations.
