A Citizen Leaves Ammunition and a Weapon Under the Bridge in Ayıntap Village
Citizens have handed over their illegally held weapons and munitions to various departments of the Armenian police. The police reported this information.
On September 11, thanks to the explanatory work of the police officers of the Yeghegnadzor division, a resident of the village of Aghavnadzor handed over a single-barrel rifle of the "TOZ-8" type to law enforcement. According to the man, he discovered the weapon in an adjoining shed at his home. He brought it back during the Artsakh liberation war years from the front lines.
On September 14, due to the efforts of the police officers from the Gavar division, a 54-year-old man presented a homemade pistol, 40 rounds of submachine gun ammunition, and 2 empty magazines. He reported that the weapons and ammunition belonged to his deceased father.
On September 15, a citizen called the police to inform them that he had left ammunition and a weapon under the bridge in Ayıntap village. Officers from the Masis division of the police discovered a homemade rifle of the "TOZ" type, a smoke grenade, and various calibers of ammunition at the location.
On September 16, another citizen called the Masis division to report that he had left weapons and ammunition near the bridge in the village of Marmarashen, and that he was a participant in the Artsakh war. An operational team, dispatched to the site, found a "TOZ" type rifled gun with its factory identification numbers mechanically removed, as well as ammunition.
On the same day, due to the explanatory efforts of the officers from the Martuni division, a resident from the village of Astghadzor visited the police station and handed over an "F-1" type grenade with a detonator and 103 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition. He indicated that he had discovered this ammunition while dismantling a nearby boiler room, and that it belonged to his deceased father.
Also on September 16, thanks to the efforts of the detectives from the Vardenis division, a man who presented himself to the police handed in 113 rounds of various caliber, an "F-1" type grenade, a grenade detonator, and detonator charges. He stated that he found the ammunition while conducting renovation and cleaning work on the roof of a private house, and that it belonged to his deceased father.
On September 17, thanks to the explanatory work of the officers from the Sevan division, a man handed over 93 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber ammunition, a bullet cartridge, and an "RGD-5" type grenade with a detonator. He reported that he had found it in a shed at home, and that it belonged to his deceased grandfather.
In all cases, forensic examinations have been ordered. The police remind that those who voluntarily surrender illegal weapons and ammunition are exempt from criminal prosecution if there is no criminal intent in their actions.
