VIDEO: Parliament Rejects LHK Inquiry on Minister Araik Harutyunyan's Resignation
At the start of the parliamentary session, Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan recalled that at the September 16 meeting, Parliament was unable to vote on the proposal stemming from the inquiry by the LHK faction, which was to forward the question of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports' continued tenure to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Before the vote, the LHK leader inquired why Minister Araik Harutyunyan was not present at the session, stating that the minister's presence is mandatory for discussions on such a matter. Speaker Mirzoyan said that the minister had called him earlier and indicated that his presence at the session was not necessary.
Before the vote, Iveta Tonoyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia faction, declared that the party also supports the LHK's proposal and added that Prosperous Armenia considers Araik Harutyunyan's closing part of the statement from September 16 to be unacceptable, labeling his subsequent remarks as "inappropriate and beyond the boundaries of decency."
However, the LHK's proposal was ultimately rejected during the vote, with 35 lawmakers voting in favor, 84 against, and 0 abstaining.
