Transfer of Drug Hidden in Sugar Prevented for Convict

On September 15, 2020, around 16:20, the employees of the security department of the Armavir Penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia discovered a white, crystalline substance weighing 1.09 grams, resembling methamphetamine, hidden in 1.5 kg of sugar brought for convict M. S. by a citizen. This information has been reported by the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.

Based on the received information, the operational department of the same facility immediately took a series of urgent measures, during which another citizen was found to have brought 2 kg of sugar for convict G. M., and once again, a similar crystalline substance weighing 1.12 grams was discovered within it.

Materials are being prepared on these facts, and a chemical examination has been appointed. At the same time, corresponding measures are being taken to identify the entire circle of participants in the illegal drug trafficking.
