VIDEO: Ashtarak Police Discover Large Quantities of Drugs

Police officers from the Ashtarak division received information that a 55-year-old resident on Proshyan Street in Ashtarak was illegally cultivating, storing, and using drugs in his backyard.

After confirming the credibility of the received information, officers from the Drug Control Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department and the regional police department of Aragatsotn conducted a search at the mentioned residence. They uncovered approximately 1,300 grams of dried, crushed, cannabis-like substance in four aluminum and metal containers from the backyard. Additionally, police uprooted 550 cannabis plants.

Simultaneously, the homeowner presented officers with about 1,500 grams of herbal substances in 13 glass and two metal containers from his living room. According to the homeowner, the discovered substance is a type of cannabis that he grew and processed for personal use.

The 55-year-old man has been taken into custody by the Ashtarak police. An examination has been ordered, and investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances. Materials on the incident are being prepared.
