We Will Conduct Monitoring and Make Necessary Decisions So Our Children Can Breathe Freely Soon
In the last 20 days, we have had less than 200 new cases daily. This is an overall improvement. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the start of today’s government meeting. He noted that the number of active cases has significantly decreased, and we currently have less than 3000 active cases. “It is very important to note that the number of daily tests is unprecedentedly high. The percentage of positive cases is low, which indicates a high detection rate. We are in the range of about 5-8 percent, which is considered a high detection rate internationally. This is very important because when a person and their surroundings know that they are infected with coronavirus, it inevitably affects their behavior, regardless of whether the patient is asymptomatic or not,” said the Prime Minister, adding that we continue to remain in a state of improvement.
The Prime Minister remarked that our biggest risk in the near future is the opening of schools disrupting this improvement. “In this regard, decisions have been made that are not universally accepted by the public, partly because there is a demand for children to wear masks at school. We are compelled to take steps to prevent a return to a new epidemic crisis. There are comments that are simply surprising,” he said.
I want to emphasize that all anti-epidemic measures and decisions that we implement are also applied to ourselves, and even more. The decisions made concern not only others but also our children, who are not exempt in schools, kindergartens, or elsewhere. So, we will follow this path, but we will monitor the situation,” said the Prime Minister of Armenia.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that their goal is to gradually exit these restrictions. “Our aim is to gradually move out of the regime of restrictions. We will conduct monitoring, and necessary decisions will be made so that our children can breathe freely soon,” said Pashinyan.
