Soon, at least a dozen airlines will resume regular flights to Armenia in September: Prime Minister

During today’s government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the issue of citizens going abroad for work, noting that many of our compatriots have been leaving for work abroad for quite some time, especially to Russia, and this topic regularly comes up. “We must state the following: this is a crisis, a pandemic situation, and sometimes it seems that this situation exists only in Armenia, but that is not the case. Today, circulation between the CIS countries is generally closed, to and from Russia and among each other. If we talk about Russia specifically, circulation is closed with almost all countries or there are some exceptions,” he said.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the current pandemic situation provides an opportunity to discuss this issue within the framework of the EAEU and try to understand how we can get out of this situation. He announced that similar discussions have already been initiated in the EAEU format. “The next issue that is crucial for us is the opening of passenger transport and borders. We plan that in a few days, as I understand, the Civil Aviation Committee is collecting applications from airlines that are ready to resume regular flights to Armenia, and as far as I understand, very soon, already in September, at least a dozen airlines will resume regular flights to Armenia,” he said.

Nikol Pashinyan announced that changes will be made regarding the quarantine regime, allowing citizens arriving from abroad who do not wish to remain in quarantine for 14 days to take a test on-site, and within a day they will receive the results. If the result is negative, the person will not have to undergo quarantine.
