Saakashvili Promises Not to Engage in Confrontation with Russia

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who plans to return to his homeland and come back to power, has promised that he will not engage in confrontation with Russia. "Now it is important to pull the country out of the swamp and not create conflict with anyone. Our problem is not to enter into confrontation with Russia, but to address our internal issues correctly," he said during a broadcast on Formula TV.

Saakashvili had previously stated that he is returning to Georgia. He admitted that many mistakes were made during his presidency, but now he has gained sufficient experience to adequately "serve his country." According to him, two years is enough to "pull Georgia out of the swamp."

Several representatives of the Georgian government considered Saakashvili's statement to be yet another lie. The country's Minister of Justice, Tea Tsulukiani, promised that he would be immediately arrested at the border checkpoint.
