Police Detain Members of 'No Credit Theft' Initiative in Front of Prime Minister's Residence
Police detained several members of the 'No Credit Theft' initiative in front of the Prime Minister's residence. Led by Manuel Manukyan, the initiative's members moved from the Government building towards Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's residence, demanding the closure of usurious organizations.
According to Manukyan, everyone should demand a one-year credit holiday. On the way, police urged the participants not to obstruct the free movement of citizens and to follow the originally designated route. One of the participants noted that the police were impeding their demonstration.
Near the residence, the protestors encountered a police barrier. One officer mentioned that they knew where the demonstrators were headed but were preventing citizens from moving forward to maintain social distancing.
Manukyan stated that the Prime Minister is so afraid that he ordered the establishment of a police barrier 500 meters away. “Nikol Pashinyan, our voice will be heard, go wherever you want, give orders as much as you like, you are violating the principles of the revolution. I urge you to come out and answer our questions,” said Manukyan.
He argued that the police were engaging in illegal actions that serve only the personal interests of the Prime Minister. He demanded that the Prime Minister come out and meet with them, stating they would wait as long as necessary.
