Ministry of Defense Urges Soldiers' Parents to Stop Visits to Military Units and Hospitals

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia announces that, despite some easing of anti-epidemic measures in the republic, preventive measures will continue to be implemented in the Armed Forces to prevent the penetration and spread of the coronavirus infection and to maintain the combat readiness of the personnel.

“The restrictions applied in the Armed Forces are aimed at maintaining the combat readiness of the personnel. Thanks to the implemented restrictions, the epidemiological situation in the Armed Forces is currently manageable.

The following restrictions will continue to be applied:

• All types of vacations and releases for mandatory servicemen are prohibited, including visits;
• Visits to military institutions and permanent deployment locations, including visits to servicemen undergoing treatment in hospitals, are strictly prohibited;
• Contract soldiers are instructed to limit and, if possible, exclude communication with the civilian population and not to participate in mass gatherings (parties, celebrations, funerals, etc.).

The Ministry of Defense once again calls on the parents and relatives of soldiers to cease visits to military units and hospitals for the purpose of visitation and to minimize contact with servicemen. An individual in the clandestine phase of the illness could unknowingly transmit the infection to servicemen through visits and communications, which would lead to the spread of the infection within the Armed Forces and, consequently, a decline in the combat readiness of the unit.

The Ministry of Defense thanks the parents and relatives of servicemen for their understanding of the necessity for these restrictions in the current situation. Ensuring the combat readiness of the Armed Forces is the most important issue at this time,” the Ministry of Defense stated in its announcement.
