Forest Fires Erupt in Five Provinces of Turkey
Forest fires have erupted simultaneously in five provinces of Turkey: Şırnak, Bursa, Adana, Çanakkale, and Antalya. This has been reported by Ermenihaber.
In Şırnak, the fire broke out in the forests of a mountain called Judi adjacent to the city. The blaze, which ignited at seven different points, is ongoing and remains uncontrolled due to the difficult terrain. It has been reported that soldiers are preventing volunteers and forestry workers from Şırnak from approaching the burning areas, citing safety concerns.
In Bursa, the fire began in a forested area adjacent to the Kestel district and has spread rapidly due to the wind. It is noted that local fire brigades and the forestry management have started efforts to contain the fire.
The fire that broke out in the nearby forest of Pozantı district in Adana has mobilized a significant number of firefighters and fire-fighting equipment, including six helicopters, two airplanes, thirty fire trucks, fifteen water tankers, seven specialized vehicles, and two hundred firefighters.
In Çanakkale, the fire ignited in the woods near the village of Kalafet in the Gallipoli district. Reports indicate that a large number of firefighters and equipment have been dispatched to control both fires.
In Antalya, the fire broke out the day before yesterday in the Aksu district. It has also been reported that a significant number of firefighters are involved in the fire suppression efforts here, with one firefighting helicopter also engaged. Local farmers are participating in the containment efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to their greenhouses.
