Foreign Students Allowed to Enter Georgia Must Cover Testing Costs Themselves
Foreign students who are permitted to enter Georgia will be responsible for their own costs related to quarantine accommodation and PCR testing. According to 1tv.ge, this is stated in the Georgian government's order No. 565, which establishes the entry procedure for foreign students into Georgia.
According to the order, foreign students must register on the Georgian government's website StopCov.ge in order to enter Georgia. This is done through a special application within the electronic program by filling out the 'Registration Form for Foreign Students Entering Georgia'. After that, they will receive approval or denial to enter Georgia from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia.
Students who receive permission to enter Georgia will undergo mandatory quarantine. The costs related to quarantine accommodation and PCR testing will be covered by the foreign students themselves. Any violation of this requirement will be subject to penalties under Georgian legislation.
The higher education institution that grants student status to a foreign student is obligated to verify the accuracy of the specific application form completed by the relevant foreign student in the electronic program. Before granting approval, the institution must reflect the details of the health insurance and accident insurance contract provided in accordance with current legislation regarding the foreign student in the electronic program.
They must also arrange the transportation and accommodation of the foreign student in quarantine areas, oversee and coordinate the medical supervision and protection of the foreign student during quarantine, and provide relevant information to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia regarding the suspension/termination of the foreign student's student status.
