63 mm Mortar Shell with Fuze Discovered in Basement of Physical Culture Institute
On September 10, at 13:21, the National Crisis Management Center received information that ammunition had been discovered in the basement of the "Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports" located at 17 Alek Manukyan Street in Yerevan.
A rapid response team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, along with the psychologist on duty from the psychological support department, a canine unit from the special rescue operations center, and an engineering unit from the civil defense department, promptly arrived at the scene.
It was determined that while cleaning the basement of the "Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports," an employee noticed an object resembling a mortar shell and moved it to the building's courtyard. Rescuers cordoned off the area and, in collaboration with the institute's security staff, evacuated 14 individuals.
The engineering detachment identified a 62 mm mortar shell with a combat fuze and safely transported it to a secure location. Rescuers conducted searches in both basements of the building, with no additional munitions found.
