The ‘Bright Armenia’ Party Proposes Arkadi Khachatryan's Candidacy for Parliamentary Committee
Edmon Marukyan, a member of the ‘Bright Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly, announced on his Facebook page that according to the decision of the party's management board, the ‘Bright Armenia’ faction will propose Arkadi Khachatryan as a candidate for the position of the head of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Issues.
Here is the biography of the candidate:
Arkadi Sanasari Khachatryan
Born on January 29, 1975, in Vanadzor.
In 1997, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Economics of Yerevan State University, obtaining a qualification as an economist-mathematician. That same year, he enrolled in the graduate program at the Financial Management Institute of the State University of Management in Moscow, while also working first as a financial broker at the 'Adiks' financial company and later as a financial manager at 'Onyx' LLC.
Later, he transferred to the graduate program of the Institute for Economic Research at the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Armenia, where he defended his thesis to receive a PhD in Economics. He also completed a law degree and the doctoral program at the Kotanyan Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.
In 2009, he studied at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government as part of the 'Negotiation Skills' educational program.
From 1998 to 2015, he served as a civil servant, holding various positions. He began his service at the Insurance Inspection of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, first as a senior specialist, then as department head, director of the agency, and deputy head of the Insurance Inspection - Chief Directorate. He was the director of the Association of Insurers.
He later continued his civil service through a competitive process at the Economic Department of the Presidential Administration of Armenia as deputy head and then as head of the Expert-Analytical Department.
Since 2012, he has been a lecturer at the Chair of Financial Accounting of Yerevan State University. Since 2018, he has also been a lecturer at the Chair of Civil Law and Civil Procedure of the Aleppo Russian (Slavonic) University.
From 2015 to 2019, he worked at the Central Bank of Armenia as a member of the Board and adviser to the President of the Central Bank. He served as chair of the Board of the Foundation for the Reconciliation of the Financial System.
From 2011 to 2013, he was a member of the group negotiating the Association Agreement between Armenia and the European Union on economic, financial, and sectoral cooperation and on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
On December 9, 2018, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly of the 7th convocation from the proportional electoral list of the 'Bright Armenia' party. He holds a PhD in Economics and has the highest class of the civil service – 1st class state advisor (2012). For his significant contribution to economic development, he was awarded the ‘Anania Shiraz Medal’ in 2013. He is the author of numerous scientific and other articles.
He is a member of the ‘Bright Armenia’ faction, a member of the Standing Committee on Economic Issues of the National Assembly, and a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth of Independent States. He is married and has three children.
