Paternity Leave: Bill Approved by the National Assembly Committee
The essential employment conditions for caregivers of children under one year old cannot be changed to less favorable conditions, except for the title and/or classifications. This legislative initiative has been discussed in the second reading and has received a positive conclusion from the National Assembly’s Permanent Committee on Labor and Social Issues.
The bill has been authored by a group of deputies from the 'My Step' faction. It also establishes provisions for paternity leave. A proposal regarding the bill was submitted by the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction, which was not accepted. The opposition faction proposed that the employer cover the payment for two days of paternity leave, while the state would cover the payment for the remaining three days.
