The News is Misinformation, No New Decision on the Georgia-Armenia Border: Armenian Embassy in Georgia
Today, reports circulated in the media stating that starting September 15, anyone entering Georgia must present a PCR test result. According to the reports, the decision was made for the health of Georgian citizens and foreigners.
Aurora news contacted the Armenian Embassy in Georgia to understand when the borders would be opened and whether it would also open for Armenian citizens.
"The news is misinformation, the borders are not opening, and there is no new decision regarding the Georgia-Armenia border," the embassy clarified in a conversation with us.
When asked if there was any information regarding the reopening of roads in the near future or if discussions have taken place, they responded, "no."
Regarding the transit role of Georgia for citizens traveling from Armenia to Russia, our representative in Georgia stated that Russia is not opening its borders for anyone.
"They cannot do anything; the only option left is to use non-charter flights, of course, this also only applies to Russian citizens, not to those Armenian citizens wishing to travel to Russia," they added.
It should be noted that according to information received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the decision prohibiting foreigners' entry into Georgia remains in effect. The ban does not apply to freight transport.
