Director of the National Archives of Armenia Amatuni Virabyan Dismissed

The director of the National Archives of Armenia, Amatuni Virabyan, has been dismissed from his position by order of the Minister of Justice. This was reported by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, Lusine Martirosyan.

“As I have been receiving inquiries from the media regarding the grounds for Mr. Virabyan's dismissal, I would like to inform you that the Ministry of Justice had initiated an investigation based on a number of applications and complaints to verify the legality of the activities of the institution, including an inquiry made to the State Revenue Committee of Armenia to obtain information about tax audits conducted within the organization,” she stated.

“According to the information received, the director of the National Archives of Armenia, Amatuni Virabyan, has managed the accounting records with such violations that led to a reduction in tax liabilities, resulting in the failure to fulfill tax obligations in a timely manner. Based on these grounds and in accordance with subparagraph 'g' of paragraph 3 of Article 16 of the Law on State Non-Commercial Organizations, the Minister of Justice of Armenia has terminated the director's powers, and his employment contract signed on November 27, 2015, has been dissolved,” she concluded.
