Victims' Heirs in March 1 Case Cease Participation in Court Hearings

Victims' heirs in the March 1 case and their representatives announced that they will cease their participation in court hearings starting tomorrow. This was stated today by Tigran Egoryan, one of their representatives during a press conference.

“The prosecution in the March 1 case has not shown sufficient will and diligence to conduct the criminal proceedings in a systematic and consistent manner. Some individuals were given the opportunity to evade scrutiny, or they were granted, so-called, the chance to escape from criminal prosecution,” said Egoryan, referring to the realities of the last two years.

According to Egoryan, leaving the March 1 case in the hands of a single judge is a sign of indifference towards failing to investigate the case. “Now, when the preliminary investigation of the main March 1 case has essentially been halted, and the trial has turned into a costly farce, with arbitrary actions prevailing in the court yard and hearing hall against the values enshrined in the Constitution, which is met with high tolerance, and the presiding judge seemingly only exercising his authority over the victims' heirs, we are ceasing our physical participation in this meaningless event,” he stated.
