Armenia Ratifies Lanzarote Convention
Armenia has become the 47th country to ratify the Council of Europe’s Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (the “Lanzarote Convention”). Today, Armenia's permanent representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Paruir Hovhannisyan, handed over the ratification document in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni.
The convention will come into force in Armenia on January 1, 2021.
“I welcome Armenia’s ratification of the Lanzarote Convention. This convention is a unique tool for the prevention and combating of one of the most heinous crimes, which, unfortunately, remains all too common in our societies,” said Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni.
