Lake Sevan Level Remains 5 cm Higher Compared to Last Year

The level of Lake Sevan has risen by 5 centimeters compared to September 3 of the previous year. According to the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, on September 2, 2020, Lake Sevan was at an elevation of 1900 meters and 68 centimeters above sea level, compared to the 1900 meters and 63 centimeters recorded on the same day last year.

As per the same source, between June and August of 2020, a total of 138 million 572 thousand cubic meters of water has been released from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes. During this year, from January 9 to the beginning of September, a total of 166 million 444 thousand cubic meters of water has been transferred to Lake Sevan via the Arpa-Sevan tunnel.
