I receive a pension of 35,000 drams, but if rent is 100-120,000 drams, how can I live on 35,000 drams? Citizen to MP
People gathered here are in the same situation, we do not have homes, we came because of the coronavirus, and we cannot go back, our families are left in Russia. Citizens wishing to go to the Russian Federation have gathered today in front of the National Assembly to present their issues to the MPs.
“We have found ourselves in an impossible situation; we have come to the National Assembly hoping to receive help,” said one of the participants in the protest, adding that they are not being employed here.
“I receive a pension of 35,000 drams, but if rent is 100-120,000 drams, how can I live on 35,000 drams?” the protesting citizen said.
MP Vahe Enfiadjian from the Prosperous Armenia Party came out to meet the citizens, promising to raise their issues in the National Assembly. “This problem needs to be solved through negotiations. This issue has already become a ‘problem’ for people; they are deprived of homes, jobs, and their loved ones. I promise you that as soon as the session resumes, I will address your issue in the National Assembly,” he said. Participants demanded a meeting with Rustam Badasyan, and Enfiadjian promised to organize a meeting with one of the government members.
