Car Importers Protest Outside Government

Car importers are staging a protest outside the Government today, September 4, demanding a meeting with government officials to address issues related to the import and export of vehicles. This was reported by News.am.

One of the participants stated that solutions to mutual interests among EAEU member countries have become complicated and prolonged. "There was a meeting in August, and quite some time has passed. The expectations of representatives from the secondary car market and car importers have not been met. All the meetings held have not shown any constructive results. About 300,000 citizens have appealed to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, asking for a response to their issues, as there are constantly legal processes occurring in EAEU member countries regarding vehicles registered with Armenian license plates, including fines and documentation being created on-site, while the goods are intended to be cleared through customs. Yet last year, when significant quantities were imported, there were clear promises from the office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan that there were no problems with any state," the protest participant stated.

According to the participant, there are discussions indicating that there are interpersonal issues among EAEU member countries concerning this matter. "If people have the authority and the ability to resolve the issues, what prevents these matters from being addressed? There are specific arguments that substantiate the hypothesis that there are interpersonal issues. The requests from Russian citizens directed to the Prime Minister have gone unanswered."
