Admission of Diaspora Armenians and Foreign Applicants, Entry Permits to Armenia, and Unified Exams
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia informs that for participation in the unified exams for the admission to higher educational institutions for the 2020-2021 academic year, this year 84 diaspora Armenians (69 from Georgia, 14 from the Russian Federation, and 1 from the USA) and 11 citizens of the Republic of Armenia residing abroad have submitted online applications.
With the permission of the Prime Minister, the mentioned applicants have had unhindered entry into Armenia since June 25, 2020, in order to participate in the admission exams taking place in the ten-day period starting July 1.
As a result, 17 citizens from Georgia (of Armenian descent) who participated in the unified exams have been admitted to higher educational institutions in Armenia, and according to the Prime Minister's permission, their entry into Armenia is facilitated for participating in the academic process that started on September 1, 2020.
Admission of Diaspora Armenians and Foreign Applicants
Based on several decisions of the Armenian government, as well as the schedule for the acceptance of documents for foreigners and diaspora Armenians for the 2020-2021 academic year in educational institutions offering preliminary, secondary, higher, and postgraduate professional education, more than 300 diaspora Armenians from foreign countries have applied to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, with around 250 being citizens of Georgia.
Some applicants are also participating in admission contests for scholarships provided by the state for full reimbursement of tuition fees (free of charge) in the fields of Armenian studies, pedagogy, and arts, which are considered a priority for the diaspora, as well as in vocational education programs. As of now, the admission process is ongoing.
Since August 10, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has undertaken necessary actions to ensure the entry of the aforementioned citizens into Armenia. With the permission of the Prime Minister and the mediation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Armenian Embassy in Georgia, these applicants (citizens of Georgia) have been allowed to enter the territory of Armenia.
Entry Permits for Diaspora Armenian Students
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport has sent a circular to preliminary, secondary vocational, and higher educational institutions in Armenia to provide information on citizens of Georgia studying in their institutions and facing entry issues to Armenia due to the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic situation. According to the Prime Minister's permission, 592 citizens of Georgia studying in Armenian educational institutions will be allowed to enter Armenia to participate in the academic process starting on September 15.
With the Prime Minister's permission, entry has also been provided for 5 citizens of Georgia studying in Armenian public schools.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and in accordance with the Prime Minister's permission, continues to carry out necessary work to ensure the entry of citizens of Georgia who are studying or applying to Armenian educational institutions.
