4.35 Tons of Ammonium Nitrate Found Near Beirut Port Where Explosion Occurred
According to a report by Reuters, referencing a statement from the Lebanese army, 4.35 tons of ammonium nitrate have been discovered near the Beirut port, the site of an explosion that occurred in August. Military engineers are currently working at the site.
The announcement stated that the explosive substance was located near the entrance of the port. It is recalled that the explosion on August 4 at the Beirut port claimed the lives of 190 people and injured around 6,000 others. The official version claims that 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded in the port, which had been stored in a warehouse without adhering to safety conditions for years.
