Son of Former NSS Official Arrested for Murder

On August 31, in the village of Verin Karmiraghbyur, a 39-year-old man was murdered by a young suspect who hails from Yerevan and is the son of a former official. This was reported by Aravot.am.

“It should be noted that on August 31, around 2 AM, there was a dispute over domestic issues during which a 35-year-old resident of Yerevan struck Avetik Abgaryan with his hands and feet and killed him. He was taken into custody and arrested. All circumstances of the case are being clarified,” reported the outlet.

Kamo Chobanyan, the mayor of Verin Karmiraghbyur, stated: “He is the grandson of our village; he comes to the village once or twice a year, and their family is very kind and educated people. We are even in shock; we can’t understand what could have happened to upset that boy so much. They are a cultured family; the mother was a flight attendant, and the father worked in national security.”

According to him, the murdered young man was also a resident of Berd community. He noted that the murder occurred at the home of a relative of the suspect: “The place where the murder happened is inhabited by a single person who is also from the city; he has a family home in our village and was here at the moment; he does not reside here permanently,” the media outlet reported.
