Protest Participants Demand Clear Answers from Government on Border Reopening
Citizens wishing to travel to Russia have gathered again in front of the government. They demand a clear answer from the authorities regarding when the borders will reopen.
“A brother is not considered a relative; your parent without citizenship has been left there, they don’t take this into account. I don’t know what they consider. Our work is there, we can't work, we can't pay our loans, we are falling into a blacklist; we have no political complaints, we just want the borders to open. Other groups have also come to the government with the same demand, but there is no solution; we have already lost hope,” said one of the protesters.
The citizen noted that even after the state of emergency is lifted, there is no hope that the borders will reopen and the issue will be resolved. “They don’t give any answers; at least make it clear whether the borders will open or not, so we can figure out our own situation. It’s impossible to live here,” the protester remarked.
The participants also informed reporters that the protests will continue indefinitely until a solution is found regarding the closed borders. “I’ve been here for six months, to marry my son, then the roads were closed, and now I can't go to my children. We are struggling under the burden of loans; we are begging to find a way out. A woman of my age can't find work; wherever I go, they say they need employees aged 18-30. I receive a pension of 30,000; I don't know whether to pay the loans or the electricity bill,” said a participating woman.
