New Bill Proposes Ban on Legalization of Unauthorized Constructions
The newspaper "Joghourdt" reports: The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has developed a new bill proposing amendments to several laws.
According to sources, the main objective of the draft prepared by the ministry is to exclude the possibility of legalizing unauthorized constructions that were built, are being built, or are partially constructed after the law comes into force. Furthermore, the process of legalizing already constructed unauthorized structures will be ensured in the near future.
However, it should be noted that regulations will be introduced that will exclude from legalization unauthorized constructions built after the new draft law comes into effect. In other words, two regimes will be established: one for unauthorized constructions built before the law comes into force and another for those constructed after.
Accordingly, the existing regulations set by the law will continue to apply to unauthorized constructions built before the law comes into effect, allowing them to be legalized within the framework of these regulations. After the law comes into force, the legalization of unauthorized constructions will be prohibited, and such structures will only be subject to demolition.
Another important change is that the rates for unauthorized constructions will also be increased, which will expedite the process of legalizing such constructions. Consequently, the tax code will see an increase in the tax rates for unauthorized constructions, which will take effect on January 1 of next year.
