Greece and Turkey Agree to Start 'Technical Talks', NATO Secretary General
Greece and Turkey have agreed to commence 'technical talks' aimed at reducing the risks of military incidents in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
He stated that he has spoken with the leaders of Turkey and Greece, who are currently in a tense standoff over oil and gas exploration rights in the region.
'Greece and Turkey are respected allies, and NATO is an important platform for consultation on all issues affecting our collective security,' the statement said. 'I am in close contact with all interested allies to find a solution to the tensions in the spirit of NATO solidarity.'
