During the process, you will all know how and what happened: Malakyan brothers are free

Football players Gor and Edgar Malakyan were released after the intervention of the president of the Football Federation of Armenia. In their conversation with journalists, they stated that they cannot say much about the incident at this time.

“We just got out, we can’t say much right now. We want to thank everyone, from the Federation and other individuals who have expressed their support. We know that many have shown their solidarity,” they said.

Referring to the incident with the police, the brothers remarked, “Regarding the case, you will all know how and what happened during the process. We will talk about the traces on us later.”

When asked if they had assaulted the police, the Malakyans responded, “No.”

It should be noted that today the investigator submitted a petition to the court regarding the choice of detention as a measure of restraint against them. According to the Malakyan brothers’ attorneys, the investigation regarding the measure of restraint has not yet completed.

Gor Malakyan is a player for the FC Pyunik, while his brother plays for Yerevan's FC Ararat.

The footballer brothers have been charged under Article 316 (use of violence against a representative of authority) part 1 and Article 258 (hooliganism) parts 3, points 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
