Turkey Violates Its Obligations Towards Armenia, Specifically Providing Access to the Sea for Armenia - Naghdalyan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has not denied this information, and it is condemnable that Turkey is already obstructing NATO and UN peacekeeping operations based on its anti-Armenian positions. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anna Naghdalyan, during a press conference, in response to remarks that a German media outlet reported Turkey had banned a German aircraft from flying through its airspace to Armenia in July to transport Armenian peacekeepers. The media outlet described this as a provocation by Ankara and asked how to interpret Turkey's actions.
Regarding the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the statement from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs elicited a nervous reaction from the foreign ministries of Turkey and Azerbaijan. When asked why there was no response from the Armenian side, Naghdalyan remarked, 'The response from Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs was indeed nervous and perhaps did not deserve a constructive reply, as you know, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs approaches these matters from a constructive position. Turkey, which has recently positioned itself as the queen of the seas in search of gas and has issues with almost all its neighbors, must first respect its obligations. By continuously keeping its border with Armenia closed, Turkey is violating its obligations towards Armenia, namely providing Armenia access to the sea.'
As for the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Naghdalyan added, 'It is not news to us that Azerbaijan operates on the international stage as Turkey's junior partner, and I must note this: if we do not respond to Turkey, we certainly will not respond to Azerbaijan either.'
